My favorite night shot so far, had to hold the shutter button down for around 6 minutes for this one (the minimum to show any sort of movement in the stars). The light on the tree is from a fire, the movement of the stars is from the orbit!

Just to clarify, I took multiple shots before this before discovering a method of bracing that actually works. It's usually easy to distinguish hand-shake from movement in picture, and if the other shots that were taken were posted it would be even more apparent (it took me a few tries before I perfected a way to brace the camera for such a long time without setting it up on my tripod). First off, the stars are moving in a circular motion, orbiting, all around a central star in the upper left corner of the picture. Secondly, no movement is shown in the tree other than changes in light (the light of the fire). I might blow this picture up and post it so people of higher resolution can tell the difference.

Wonderful! What sort of camera did you use to take this stars picture with?

All my shots are taken with a Nikon D70 unless I specify otherwise. As soon as I get the $15 shutter remote for the whole getup pictures like these will be an infinite amount easier because I won't have to keep the camera still myself!
